WRITTEN EXCUSES REQUIRED!
If your child will be absent or tardy, we MUST receive a telephone call reporting the absence or tardy and the reason for the absence/tardy. When your child comes in late or returns to school, a written excuse MUST be presented to the teacher. If a written excuse is not received, the absence/tardy will be marked UNEXCUSED. We MUST be able to verify each absence and tardy. Thank you for your cooperation.
STUDENTS ARRIVING TOO EARLY!
Children should arrive at school in the morning at 8:00 a.m. if they come for breakfast and before 8:20 a.m. if they do not come for breakfast. Some children have been arriving much too early – some are here before the staff members arrive at 7:30 a.m. Children are not permitted to wait in the office until 8:00 a.m. We do NOT have morning supervision until 8:00 a.m.
ADVENTURES IN SCIENCE AND THE ARTS DAY
AT TOWNSHIP PARK
PLANNED FOR MAY 25, 2012
The staff of Lakeshore Primary has planned an exciting day for the children on Friday, May 25, 2012. “Adventures in Science and the Arts Day at Township Park” will be held at Conneaut Township Park. There will be no rain date. If it is raining on May 25th, we will stay at the school and continue with similar activities planned for a good time at our school. (Volunteers will still be needed.) More information will be sent home soon.
Students, staff, and volunteers will walk to the park at 9:20 a.m. with a police escort. We will have lunch at the park, and children will take part in seven activities. We will return to the school by 2:45 p.m. Children must dress for the weather and be protected with sunscreen. Children are asked to wear tennis shoes. Please NO flip flops or swimwear.
Lunch will be provided for all children by the Parent/Teacher Council. The menu for children will include: hot dog on bun, applesauce cup, carrot sticks, fruit snack, pretzels, and milk. If your child will not eat this lunch, you may pack a lunch in a disposable bag. Clearly label the lunch with your child’s name and teacher’s name.
A very generous parent is donating lunch for all volunteers. Lunch will include a hot dog on a bun and chips. The Lakeshore staff will provide water for volunteers and staff.
Permission forms were sent home with students on Thursday, May 10, 2012. All students MUST have a signed permission form to attend. NO phone calls granting permission can be accepted. Children who do not turn in a permission form will NOT be allowed to go to the park. If you misplace your child’s permission form, please write his/her permission on a regular piece of paper.
We are seeking parent or grandparent volunteers to help with supervision of the classes and to help run the activity stations. If you are able to volunteer, please write your name on your child’s permission form. On the morning of May 25, we ask all volunteers to meet in the gymnasium of our school at 9:00 a.m. to receive their assignments. We are not calling volunteers with their assignments. NO requests will be honored for you to be working with your own child’s class, but we will all be at the park together having a wonderful time. If you have any questions, please call 593-7250.

2012-2013 REQUESTS FOR CLASSROOM PLACEMENT AT GATEWAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Requests by parents regarding a child’s placement in a particular teacher’s class (grade 3 only) for next school year must be submitted in writing to Ms. Blackwell by June 1. All written requests that are submitted by June 1 will be considered; however, the principal reserves the right to decline requests. Requests for placement received after June 1 WILL NOT be considered.
ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES FOR
FOOD SERVICE OPERATIONS
Students will not be allowed to charge lunches after May 16, 2012. Students are encouraged to prepay or to pay daily for lunches. Checks should be made out to Conneaut Area City Schools and will be entered into the food service accounting system under the student’s name.
All lunch charges are discouraged. With the accounting and billing system, the student may charge a Type A lunch only if he/she forgets his/her money. Charges will not be permitted for more than five (5) lunches or breakfasts for elementary students. Middle School and High School students are only permitted to charge one (1) time. After five (5) charges in the primary and elementary schools or one (1) charge in the middle or high schools, a peanut butter or cheese sandwich and milk will be provided. The parents will be notified of the charges and for potential legal action to collect the charges if not paid.
At the end of the school year, all charges must be paid in full. If charges are not collected, they will be carried over to the following year. Accounts that have a credit balance will be carried over to the next school year unless a refund is requested. Graduating seniors and students moving out of the district will have their credit balance refunded by check. Please contact Pam Anderson, Cafeteria Supervisor, at 593-7238, for questions or concerns.
