Hello.  My name is Mrs. Birt.  I was born and raised in Conneaut, Ohio and have been teaching here for 14 years.  I graduated with a BSE from Kent State University and later attended Youngstown State to receive a Reading certificate for grades K-12.  I began my career as a substitute teacher followed by 2 years as a kindergarten tutor at Southeast Elementary.  In 2000 I moved to Lakeview Elementary where I taught 4th grade until Lakeview was closed in 2004.  I moved to Gateway Elem. where I continued to teach 4th grade until 2010.  Since 2010, I have been teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade Reading here at CMS.  I look forward to helping each and every student improve their reading abilities, comprehension and overall reading scores.
