I go over my rules with my students at the beginning of each semester.
I expect the students to follow them. As high school students, there should not be a problem being able to conduct themselves appropriately.
My rules result in a class that is easy to manage and productive.
ART ROOM RULES
Students should be in the room and be ready to work when the bell rings. They should be quiet and attentive so as to get directions from the teacher. Students that are not in class when the bell rings or in their seats will be issued a tardy.
Remember, art projects are given a specific amount of time to be completed. Art work will not be accepted early unless otherwise stated by the teacher. The amount of time given is the amount of time that needs to be used to complete a project correctly.
Art Fees are due within the firest few weeks of beginning an art class. The art fee amount is $20 per class for all art classes. This fee is needed in order to purchase supplies which the students will be using. A waiver form can also be filled out. Please get this in right away as it makes for less paper work.
Fire Drills - Fire drills are for the safety of everyone. Students are given procedures to follow and are expected to. They should be able to do so without talking. Students should report to the designated area with the teacher. Those who find in necessary to talk will be given reprimanded.
Sunstitute teachers - Substitute teachers should be treated with the same respect as regular teachers. The same rules must be followed. Students/classes that misbehave for a substitute will be given 2 weeks of lunch detention with me.
Stay in assigned seats. There is no wandering around the room. The only reason you are out of your seat is if you are getting supplies. Students will be told what supplies are being used. They are not allowed to just go into cupboards and help themselves.
NO GUM - EVER!
You are required to have a pencil and your assignment book every day in class.
Talking is permitted quietly once I have gone over the lesson. If talking cannot be done in a quiet manner or if work is not being done, then it will result in silent art for everyone.
I reserve the right to change seats for any reason. This may be due to excessive talking, work not getting done or any other reason.
Everyone is expected to help clean up the room and their table. It is a team effort. No one will leave the room until all supplies are put back in the correct places. Ample time is given to clean up. If you do not use your time wisely, that is not my fault.
