GOOD NEWS!  Gateway Elementary School earned an EFFECTIVE SCHOOL rating from the Ohio Department of Education!

ALL CONNEAUT STUDENTS AND STAFF WILL BE ATTENDING

SCHOOL ON MONDAY, FEB. 18.  THIS IS THE MAKE-UP DATE FOR

THE SCHOOL CANCELLATION ON JAN. 14.

• All visitors and parents must sign in at the front office as soon as they enter the building.  Visitors and parents may not go directly to classrooms. 
• All visitors and parents are reminded that there are handicapped parking spaces designated in both parking lots.  The restrictions on these spaces must be observed at all times.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BUS RIDERS AND DRIVERS who have earned the January Blue Ribbon for safety and appropriate behavior on bus #1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 15.

 CONGRATULATIONS TO SEAN HARRIS (Gr. 5) who was recognized as the January Student of the Month by the Conneaut Chamber of Commerce.

 GRADE 5 STUDENTS AND PARENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A FAMILY READING NIGHT ON MONDAY, FEB. 18 (3:45-4:30).  Join Gr. 5 teachers for this fun and informational event.  Families will receive a free book for attending.  Watch for more info!

 BE READY FOR WINTER WEATHER:  Students are reminded to dress appropriately for winter weather. (We have outdoor recess daily unless it is raining or the temperature is below 20 degrees F.)  Boots, mittens/gloves, hats, scarves, and heavy coats should be worn. Snow pants are also recommended.  Additionally, some students may want to keep an extra sweatshirt or sweater in their lockers in case they find that their classroom is too cool.

 PTC NEWS:

The 07-08 yearbook is nearing completion.  Thanks to those parents on the Yearbook Committee who have worked so diligently. Yearbooks sales begin February 14.  YOU CAN GET A DISCOUNT BY ORDERING A YEARBOOK DURING PARENT CONFERENCES OR DURING THE WEEK OF 2/18 – 22 FOR $9.00.   After Feb. 22, the cost is $12.00.  (ZOOM current events inserts cost an additional $1.50) Orders must be prepaid. Look for our PTC representatives when you visit the school for conferences.

Room parents are reminded that treats for Valentine’s Day will be served on Wednesday, February 13^th at 2:30 PM.

JOIN OUR STUDENTS FOR LUNCH

Dear Parents, Grandparents and Guardians,

                You are invited to have lunch with your child during his/her scheduled lunch time.

                Each month throughout the year will be designated for certain classes to have guests in for lunch.  You may visit on any day during that month.  We ask that you notify the school three days in advance to let us know whether you will be purchasing a school lunch or bringing your own lunch.  (The cost of the school lunch for adults is $3.00 or $3.45 with milk.)  Please plan the lunch visit for you and your child only.  Do not bring food for other students.

                Below is the scheduled month for each classroom and the lunch period time.  Please use the attached form three days before you plan to have lunch with your child/children.  We look forward to seeing many of you throughout the year.
